Contribute where you consume.
At the tables you gather, in the communities you are a part of, on the platforms you use… are you contributing in the places you are consuming?
I belong to some great families in the Annapolis area, my own biological family, a web of friends in the same life stage that I very much consider a family, a nurturing network of women at The Fount and a church family at Downtown Hope, where I heard an incredible message this week on belonging and the places or groups of people that we consider our homes.
These lessons are my own summary or takeaways from Sunday morning’s good word:
Contribute where you consume.
Support what you want to see more of.
Don’t be anonymous, be known.
And this first one, “contribute where you consume” is a lesson that has been on my mind a lot lately. I’ve felt it personally in my own family and on a larger scale in my small city. It means to step off the sideline, to serve, to let yourself be known, to give to the things you want to see keep going.
What this looks like practically:
Volunteer at your church or other organizations you regularly attend or are grateful to be a part of.
Buy a ticket to the event you want to see become a regular thing in your city.
Share a post. Become a paid subscriber to a Substack you read.
It doesn’t have to be big and it doesn’t have to be financial, but find a way to contribute where you consume in your daily life.
